Education & Credentials

Licensed Associate Counselor (lic. #37AC00881300)

Specialties

Alana supports children, adolescents, young adults and families facing anxiety, depression, self‑esteem issues and complex family dynamics. She has extensive experience in suicide prevention and provides a safe space to explore and manage suicidal thoughts, ideation and self‑harm. As a woman of colour, she connects deeply with clients who are navigating identity‑related challenges.

Alana’s interest in mental health began with her grandfather’s Alzheimer’s disease. Watching him struggle sparked a fascination with how the brain processes emotions, memories and trauma. Her studies in neuroscience led to a passion for therapy as a way to heal the whole person. Becoming a counsellor allows her to help others process emotions, build coping skills and thrive.

Why She Chose This Work

Alana meets each client exactly where they are. She blends cognitive behavioural therapy, dialectical behavioural therapy, play therapy, motivational interviewing, mindfulness and other modalities to create a personalised plan. Her aim is to provide a safe, empathetic and non‑judgmental environment where clients can tackle intense feelings at their own pace.

Alana's Approach

In college she trained seeing‑eye dogs; she later adopted one of her trainees for being “too friendly.”

A little about Alana

Her empathy extends to her lifestyle—she has been vegan for a decade.

She loves ceramics and wheel‑thrown pottery, often crafting custom mugs and vases for friends and family.
